2007-12-04 00:00

On December 3, H.E. Mme. Ambassador Fu Ying went to Victoria and Albert Museum (website: www.vam.ac.uk) to inspect the preparation for "Creative China" design exhibition, accompanied by Wu Xun, Cultural counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UK.

Mark Jones, Director of the museum, and Beth Mckillop, keeper of Asian Department, denoted that "Creative China" design exhibition will be held in V&A museum from March to July next year. The exhibition is a display of modern Chinese design achievements, aiming at reflecting huge influence of China's economic development on city construction and design, capturing various aspects in China, revealing smartness and ability of Chinese modern designers, and helping UK and western public to understand changes in China and charm of Chinese designs. The exhibition will focus on buildings, fashionable dresses, press design, films, photos, product and furniture designs, youth cultures and digital media of three coastal cities with rapid development-Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing, introducing nearly 100 Chinese designers. Seminars and other performances including fashion shows will also be held along with the exhibition.

Mr. Jones said that Albert Museum will hold the "100-Year Olympic Placards Exhibition" at Beijing Capital Museum in January 2008 to mark the Beijing Olympic Games,

Fu Ying denoted that it is significant for "Creative China" design exhibition to focus on modern China, catch interests of young people, display achievements of young talents, press close to colourful life and fashion of common Chinese people. The Chinese Embassy in the UK considers it to be an important part of "China Now" and will offer assistance to ensure success of the exhibition. Fu Ying also suggested them to invite a group of professional Chinese model to perform in V&A Museum on the occasion.
