Fu Ying Attends Conference in Wilton Park

On November 19, 2007, H.E. Mme. Ambassador Fu Ying attended a conference of "China's Rapid Economic Growth: Internal Impact, External Implication" at Wilton Park and delivered a keynote speech. Fu Ying introduced the development strategy and foreign policy set by the 17th CPC Congress. She denoted that historical changes have occurred in the relations between contemporary China and the rest of the world, resulting in ever closing interconnection between China's future and those of the world. While focusing on its own construction, China will make overall plans coordinating international and domestic situations, stick to the road of peaceful development and a win-win strategy, and build a harmonious world together with other countries. Fu Ying said China still faces a lot of challenges in its development and there is a big gap of the cognition and expectation of China's strength between international community and those of China. It is hoped that both sides could strengthen exchanges and improve mutual understanding.
The conference is one part of a China Week series of discussions jointly held by Wilton Park, the Royal Institute of International Affairs and China Policy Institute, University of Nottingham. Its purpose is to make in-depth discussions on the 17th CPC Congress's impact on China's politics, economy, society and foreign affairs. More than 80 people from China, UK, USA, EU and other international organizations attended the conference. Li Junru, Vice-president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the conference and delivered a speech.

During the conference, Fu Ying also gave interview to British Satellite News (BSN).
