Charge d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen Meets with Representatives of British Financial Community
2019/05/29

On May 28, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen met at the Chinese Embassy with David Marsh, Chairman of Chairman of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF), Mark Boleat, former Chairman of the City of London's Policy and Resources Committee, Karen Northey, Head of China, International Markets, London Stock Exchange Group, and John Liver, Partner, Financial Services of Ernst&Young, and exchanged views with them on the prospects of the City of London and the new situations and opportunities of China-UK cooperation in the fields of finance, securities and consultation.

Marsh and participants said that the current global economic and financial environment is facing new challenges. China has become a leader in the areas of financial integration, green finance and digital economy, playing an increasingly important role in maintaining the global multilateral financial order. While retaining its unique strengths and appeal, the City of London will accelerate its adaptation and innovation in the context of Brexit. Looking ahead, the UK-China financial cooperation is promising. They are willing to contribute to China-UK cooperation in related fields.

Chen briefed them on the current development of China-UK relations and China’s determination and pragmatic measures to adhere to reform and opening up. She expressed her appreciation to the financial circles for their efforts in promoting cooperation with China and hoped that they would continue to contribute ideas and outcomes to the “Golden Era” of China-UK relations.
