Minister Ma Hui Visits Telegraph Media Group and Hold Talks with the Editors

On June 20, 2019, Minister Ma Hui of the Chinese Embassy in the UK visited Telegraph Media Group and held talks with Editor Emeritus Ian MacGregor, Managing Editor Jo Morrell, Acting Deputy Foreign Editor Memphis Barker, and Assistant Comment Editor Sherelle Jacobs.

Minister Ma elaborated on his views and positions on the 10th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, Sino-US Economic and Trade Consultations, Huawei's Participation in the British 5G Network Construction, and the Hong Kong SAR Government's Amendments. He noted that The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph of Telegraph Media Group are mainstream newspapers with global influence. In recent years, China-related stories in the two newspapers have continued to increase. He hoped that the two newspapers would continue to report on China’s development and changes in a comprehensive, objective and in-depth manner, so as to show a real developing and progressing China to the world.

MacGregor said that China continues to develop rapidly. With its increasing international influence, China has drawn worldwide attention. The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph would uphold the principle of objectivity and fairness to provide its readers with reliable news reports on China.
