Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen Holds a Talk with British Financial Experts
2019/07/17

On July 16, Charge d'Affaires a.i. Chen Wen held a talk at the Chinese Embassy with David Marsh, Chairman of OMFIF, Rick Watson, Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets of AFME, Susan Revell, Deputy Chair and General Counsel for EMEA, BNY Mellon, and Juan Sole, Senior Economist of International Monetary Fund. They had in-depth exchanges on the current international financial situation, the prospect of Brexit, and the development of London’s financial industry.

Marsh and others said that the global economic and financial development is currently facing new opportunities and challenges. The City of London is trying its best to seize the opportunities to maintain its unique advantages and leading position in the context of Brexit. There is a good momentum of cooperation between China and the City of London, in particular the huge potential for third-party cooperation in the fields of green finance and financial technology. They are ready to continue to share their ideas and analysis on promoting cooperation in related fields.

Chen expressed appreciation to the experts for their efforts in deepening the financial cooperation between China and the UK, and between China and the EU. She briefed them on the current situation of China-UK relations, especially the fruitful results of the 10th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue, saying that China would steadily promote the opening of the financial industry, which would bring new opportunities to the financial cooperation between the two countries. She hoped that they would continue to contribute to China-UK “Golden Era”.
