On July 25, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming met at the Chinese Embassy with Mr. Alan Parker, Chairman of the "UK Now" event and Chair of the Brunswick Group Co., Ltd.

Parker introduced the design and the preperation of "UK Now" and told the Ambassador that the event, which would be held in China in 2012, is composed of a series of activities including art exhibitions, performances, film festivals, etc., with an aim of showcasing the development in art, creativity and other relevant fields in contemporary Britain and the enterprising, open and dynamic image of the country. The event has received strong support from the British Government and is jointly designed by the British Council, Brunswick Group Co., Ltd. and other parties.

Ambassador Liu said that people-to-people exchanges are an important part of the relations between China and the UK, both with long history and civilization. China is ready to actively cooperate with the UK to bring success to the activities related to "UK Now", so as to promote the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and consolidate the basis for the China-UK cooperation.
