On 29 June, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang and his wife Counsellor Hua Mei met with the representatives of Chinese students at the University of Birmingham during their visit to the University.
The students shared their experiences of study in the UK and their future plans. Ambassador Zheng extended warm greetings to them and outlined to them China’s current political and economic situation. He expressed hope that they will keep in mind President Xi Jinping's guidance, carry forward the glorious tradition of serving the motherland, and aspire to become the new generation who can live up to great responsibilities in the new era. Ambassador Zheng emphasised the importance of ideal, enterprise, solidarity and friendship. He encouraged the students to uphold the ideal of serving the country and devote to the Chinese modernisation and the great cause of national rejuvenation; to carry forward the enterprising spirit in promoting China’s development with their love and aspiration for the country; to enhance solidarity and help each other out with the pride, grit and confidence of the Chinese people; and to strengthen friendship and promote Chinese culture and China-UK friendship. The students said that they were deeply inspired by Ambassador Zheng’s remarks and will study hard to improve their skills and abilities, help each other in solidarity, and make more friends, so as to make their contributions to building a modern socialist country in all respects and promoting the friendship between the Chinese and British people.
