2023-11-03 18:08

On 26 October 2023, internationally acclaimed pianist Lang Lang gave a recital "A Piano Rendezvous--An Intimate Musical Soiree with Lang Lang" at the Chinese Embassy in the UK at invitation. More than 60 guests from various sectors in the UK were invited to the event.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang said that Lang Lang is a world-renowned pianist that China has produced and thanked him for his efforts in promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries. He said that music is a universal language of the world. Both China and the UK are great countries with splendid history and culture, and both are proud of their distinctive musical traditions. The Chinese Embassy stands ready to harness music as a bridge to promote cultural exchanges and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries. China is committed to working with countries around the world, including the UK, to effectively implement the Global Civilisation Initiative, and, through exchanges and mutual learning, overcome cultural barriers and conflicts, promote peace and development, and let civilisations flourish for generations to come.

Ambassador Zheng pointed out that cultural exchanges between China and the UK have become increasingly vibrant this year, with a growing number of artists and cultural groups flowing both ways. The Chinese Embassy in the UK is willing to work with people from all walks of life in the UK to further advance cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Lang Lang performed live renditions of renowned melodies from both China and other countries, including "Jasmine Flower", "Autumn Moon on a Calm Lake", "Colourful Clouds Chasing the Moon", "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?", and Chopin's "Mazurka", which was warmly received by the guests.
