Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Delivers Remarks at the 2023 Full Member General Assemblyof the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK

On 30 October 2023, H.E. Ambassador Zheng Zeguang attended and delivered remarks at the 2023 Full Member General Assemblyof the China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK).

Ambassador Zheng congratulated the CCCUK on the election ofits Fourth Council, commended the Chamber’s achievements in recent years, and encouraged it to continuously improve its performance and service under the leadership of the new Council and actively build a platform for mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the UK.

Ambassador Zheng said that China is takingsolid steps to advance high-quality development, and China’s economy has show evident momentum of recovery, withpositive factors accumulating. At the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) successfully held in Beijing not long ago, President Xi Jinping announcedeight major steps thatChina will take to support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, ushering a new phase of the cooperation. China has always been an important opportunity for global development. It is important that China and the UK develop a stable and constructive cooperative relationship based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.China firmly opposes the so-called "China threat theory"propagated by some British politicians and the UK's abuse of national security legislation to wantonly suppress Chinese businesses. China strongly supports British enterprises, educational institutions and governmentsat all levels in actively expanding exchanges and collaboration with China. It is hoped that the UK will work with China to create favorable conditions and a sound environment for mutually beneficial cooperation and friendly exchanges invarioussectors between the two countries.

The China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (previously known as the China Enterprises Association in Britain) was founded in 2001. It is a non-profit association registered in accordance with the law, mainly representing and serving the interests of Chinese businesses with the aim of promoting China-UK economic and trade relations. The CCCUK currently has more than 300 members. TheCouncilserves as the executive body of the CCCUKGeneral Assembly and is responsible for leading the Chamber to carry out its daily activities when the General Assembly is not in session.
