Xi Jinping Meets with President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan

On January 6, 2017, President Xi Jinping met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with President Almazbek Atambayev of Kyrgyzstan.

Xi Jinping pointed out that yesterday marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kyrgyzstan. In the past 25 years, the two countries have constantly deepened political mutual trust and comprehensively boosted economic cooperation, ushering bilateral relations to an unprecedented height. Both countries support each other on issues concerning respective core interests and concerns as well as maintain close communication and coordination in major international and regional affairs. China and Kyrgyzstan have truly become good friends, good neighbors and good partners. China is willing to, together with Kyrgyzstan, earnestly implement relevant cooperation documents signed by both sides and forge cooperation highlights so as to constantly push China-Kyrgyzstan strategic partnership for new outcomes.

Xi Jinping stressed that the key to great achievements from China-Kyrgyzstan relations is the firm adherence to the principles of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation by both sides. Kyrgyzstan is an important country along the ancient Silk Road. In recent years, with concerted efforts of both sides, the two countries have achieved positive results from the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative. Both countries should speed up major infrastructure construction projects, push forward the implementation of production capacity investment and cooperation, facilitate cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises, well manage the integration between the "Belt and Road" construction and the Eurasian Economic Union construction and enhance people-to-people and cultural cooperation in such fields as education, science and technology and tourism. The Chinese side stands ready to work with Kyrgyzstan to deepen security cooperation, jointly fight against the "three evil forces" including the East Turkistan Islamic and safeguard security and stability of both countries and the region. China hopes to continue to intensify cooperation and coordination with the Kyrgyz side within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) framework.

Almazbek Atambayev expressed that he is glad to meet with President Xi Jinping in China at the 25th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. Over the past 25 years, Kyrgyzstan and China have witnessed in-depth development of exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, security and other fields. The two countries share similar stances on many major international and regional issues and achieve productive communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks such as the UN and the SCO. As an important strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan, China has provided long-term and great support to Kyrgyzstan's prosperity and stability, which the Kyrgyz side is very grateful for. The country is ready to work with China to deepen cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture and other fields, actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction and advance cooperation in the docking between the "Belt and Road" initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union. Firmly supporting China's efforts in safeguarding its core interests, Kyrgyzstan will continue to uphold the one-China policy. The country is willing to, together with China, intensify security cooperation and staunchly crack down on the "three evil forces".
