State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi Holds Telephone Talks with Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan

On the late night of February 27, 2019, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan made an emergency telephone call to State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and briefed him on the latest Pakistan-India situation, hoping that the Chinese side will continue to play a constructive role in easing the current tension.

Wang Yi showed deep concern over the escalating Pakistan-India situation, and briefed Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the Chinese side's work on promoting peace talks. Wang Yi reiterated that the Chinese side hopes both Pakistan and India will exercise restraint and earnestly fulfill their commitment to preventing the aggravation of the situation. Meanwhile, Wang Yi stressed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be earnestly respected, and that the Chinese side is unwilling to see acts violating the norms governing international relations.
