Yang Jiechi Meets with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan
2019/03/20

On March 20, 2019, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi of Pakistan in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi noted that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, and that cooperation between the two countries not only brings benefits to the two peoples, but also contributes to regional stability and prosperity. Facing the complex and changing international and regional situations, the two sides should strengthen strategic communication and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges with the Pakistani side, solidly promote the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and strengthen communication and coordination on major international and regional issues.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed that China is Pakistan's most trusted friend, and that the first China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue has yielded fruitful results. The Pakistani side will continue to work with the Chinese side to actively implement the construction of the CPEC projects and push forward the practical cooperation between the two countries in an all-round manner.
