Wang Yi Meets with President of Nepali Congress Party Sher Bahadur Deuba
2019/09/10

On September 10, 2019, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with President of Nepali Congress Party Sher Bahadur Deuba in Katmandu.

Wang Yi said, China-Nepal friendship has spanned thousands of years and grown even stronger as time went by. As a political party with a long history in Nepal, Nepali Congress, in power or out of power, has always supported China-Nepal friendly cooperation, and made important contributions to the development of bilateral relations. China's friendly policy towards Nepal is open to all the Nepali people and enjoys solid popular support. It will remain unchanged because of the changes of political situation in Nepal. The Communist Parry of China (CPC) is willing to strengthen inter-party exchanges, learn from each other and build closer relations with Nepali Congress. The joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Nepal has achieved many positive results. The two sides need to speed up the building of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, so as to further benefit the two peoples.

Sher Bahadur Deuba expressed, Nepal and China enjoy a long-standing history of friendship, and Nepal always firmly adheres to the One China policy and will not allow any force to engage in anti-china activities in Nepal. The Nepali side thanks the Chinese side’s long-term and strong support and assistance to Nepal and hopes to deepen Nepal-China all-round cooperation in the process of Nepal's national development and construction and speed up connectivity so as to help Nepal transform from a land-locked country to a land-linked one and play a pivotal role in regional economic development. Nepali Congress is willing to strengthen inter-party exchanges with the CPC, and take it as an opportunity to promote the friendship between the two peoples and push for greater development of bilateral relations.
