Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou Chairs China-UK Consultation on Asian Affairs

On December 12, 2016, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou and principal UK officials held in London the first round of China-UK consultation on Asian Affairs. Kong Xuanyou held talks with Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Alok Sharma, FCO Director for South Asia and Afghanistan Directorate Owen Jenkins and FCO Director for the Asia Pacific Stephen Lillie of the UK respectively, during which they exchanged extensive views on the situation in Asia, the "Belt and Road" initiative, regional cooperation, and regional issues including the nuclear issue of Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Afghan issue and maritime issues. Speaking positively of the outcomes from the consultation, both sides agreed to enhance communication and coordination on Asian affairs and expand cooperation opportunities.
