HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales Meets Fu Ying

On November 1, 2007, H.E. Mme. Fu Ying visit Clarence Palace and met HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. Charles first introduced those famous paintings in the palace with great interests. He noted that it was once lived by his grandmother, and was his favorite place in the childhood due to those famous paintings. It often reminds him of his grandmother when he lives here.

His royal highness happily introduced his visit to China Town in London with HRH Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall that morning and appraised overseas Chinese for their outstanding contributions to the social development of UK.

Princess Charles expressed his concern to the traditional Chinese medical and hoped that it could be included in modern medical system, and corresponding regulations, systems and qualification standards should be established. He hoped that traditional Chinese medical could be standardized and was willing to make contribution to it.

Fu Ying noted that China is also concerned about the standardization of overseas traditional Chinese medicine, the Chinese Embassy in the UK is actively promoting the "Week of Traditional Chinese Medicinel" to be incorporated into "China Now" next year with the purposes of making more people known traditional Chinese medicine and help it to develop better in UK. The local traditional Chinese medical practitioners will also participate in the event.

According to HRH Princess Charles, Hutong Culture of Beijing is a treasure of the human civilization, UK has both experiences and lessons in the protection and utilization of ancient and old buildings and is willing to share these experiences with China. The Prince's Foundation is cooperating with Tsing Hua University so as to make contributions to the protection of the traditional Chinese culture.

Fu Ying expressed her appreciation and noted that it is a challenge for China to improve the living conditions of people and protect traditional buildings at the same time when the Chinese economy is developing rapidly. The Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of traditional buildings and is willing to make exchanges with UK in this field.

H.E. Mme. Fu Ying also accompanied HRH Princess Charles to the awarding ceremony of the Pearl Awards that night.
