Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Meets with Chairman of Corporate & Institutional Banking of BNP Paribas Alain Papiasse
2019-11-15 19:21

On November 14, Ambassador Liu Xiaoming attended Global Markets Conference 2019 hosted by BNP Paribas in London and delivered a keynote speech. During the conference, he met with Alain Papiasse, Chairman of Corporate & Institutional Banking of BNP Paribas.

Papiasse briefed the Ambassador on the development of BNP Paribas’ global business, emphasizing that BNP Paribas attaches great importance to the Chinese market, and its business has continued growing in China. During French President Macron’s visit to China not long ago, BNP Paribas and China Investment Corporation took the initiative to sign an agreement to jointly launch the France-China Cooperation Fund. BNP Paribas has great confidence in the prospects of China’s economy and is willing to further expand cooperation with China.

Ambassador Liu spoke highly of BNP Paribas for the importance it attaches to the cooperation with China. He briefed Papiasse on China’s a new round of high-level opening-up, and accelerated opening of the finance industry, which creates more space for foreign financial organizations to benefit from China’s development. He said that BNP Paribas should seize the golden opportunity, enhance financial cooperation in China, and create pragmatic outcomes, so as to make positive contribution to the development of China-France relations and China-Europe relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on world economy, international trade, Brexit, China-UK relationship and China-Europe relationship.
