Chinese Embassy Holds Symposium with Chinese Media in UK
2007-09-25 00:00

In order to further strengthen the cooperation between the Chinese Embassy in the UK and the Chinese media based in London and well report the international and diplomatic news, the Chinese Embassy invited some reporters of Chinese media based in UK to have a symposium on September 21. Minister-counsellor Pan Hejun, Counsellor Wang Shuying of the Politics Section, Counsellor Jiang Fan of the Economic and Commercial Office, Counsellor Wu Xun of the Culture Section, staffs of the Press Section and the reporters of CCTV, China Radio International, People's Daily and China New Agency attended the symposium.

Pan Hejun said that with the strengthening of the comprehensive national power and the improvement of the international influence of China, the report of international and diplomatic news had become a major component of Chinese diplomatic work. The Chinese Embassy attached great importance to the work of the Chinese media based in UK, was willing to continue the provision of services and convenience to the reporters and hoped to listen to the broad opinions and suggestions of the reporters so as to better report the international and diplomatic news.

The participating representatives of the media thanked the Embassy for the services and convenience it provided and carried out broad and in-depth discussion on how to strengthen the good interaction between the two sides. The symposium concluded that the Chinese Embassy should, on the basis of its past work, further strengthen the consciousness of proactive communication and cooperation with the Chinese media, provide the reporters with the background information for their reports as much as possible, at the same time, it should provide sufficient background materials and strengthen the effectiveness of its work. All Chinese media should strengthen the report about soft news such as the bilateral cultural exchange projects, substantiate the contents of the reports and enrich the languages of the reports.
