The Education Section of the Chinese Embassy Organizes Overseas Chinese Students in UK to Study the Report of 17th National Congress of CPC

In the afternoon of October 20, the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in the UK organized some Chinese students studying in UK to have a symposium and learn the report delivered by Hu Jintao at the 17th National Congress of CPC. The officials of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy and Chinese students from Oxford University, Cambridge University and the London School of Economics and Political Science attended the symposium.

Minister Counsellor Wang Yongda pointed out that the 17th National Congress of the CPC is held in the new phase when all courses of China are continuously developing. Through learning the report of Hu Jintao, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, we can feel that the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics is becoming more and more consummate. The report of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee further elaborates on the meaning of the scientific outlook on development; makes clear the purposes and requirements of building a well-off society in an all-round way and points out the directions for our future work. He hoped that the Chinese students studying in UK could seriously learn the spirit of the 17th National Congress of the CPC, study hard, proactively do pioneering work, repay their country and make more contributions to the homeland in such fields as education, scientific research by returning to China and starting  enterprises and serving China in multiple ways.

Sun Haoda, Vice Chairman of Chinese Student and Scholar Association in UK (CSSA-UK ) and doctorate student of Open University, noted that CSSA-UK would also organize some symposiums so as to learn in depth the spirit of the report in the 17th CPC National Congress, further implement the scientific outlook on development in the work of CSSA-UK, carry forward the pioneering spirit and make the pioneering work down to earth.

Yu Xiaofeng, a visiting scholar in Oxford University noted that the concept of ecological civilization construction put forward in the report of the 17th CPC National Congress was of strategic meaning, it showed that the CPC and the government paid more attention to the relations between security and development and emphasized the development on the basis of the ecological security.

Chen Wei, a visiting scholar in University of Westminster, said with deep feelings that the report of the 17th CPC National Congress was inspiring. The report attaches greater importance to education, puts education in the social construction, further elaborates on the strategies of reinvigorating China through human resource development and rejuvenating China through science and education, makes the education at the priority of the development and conforms to the trend of the times.

Cai Lidong, a visiting scholar in the London School of Economics and Political Science noted the report of the 17th CPC National Congress further elaborates on the scientific outlook on development and makes the theoretical system more and more mature. The report not only analyzes the major development issues in China but also calls for proactive endeavour in the settlement of international issues with an international vision; the report is of instructive meaning to future work.

The students also learned and discussed contents of the report of Hu Jintao about constructing democracy and legal system and promoting transformation of the scientific and technological achievements, the participants were eager to speak at the symposium and the atmosphere was ardent, the participants said one after another that they would take the report of 17th CPC National Congress as the guidance, implement the scientific outlook on development in practice and make greater contributions to the development of China.
