2007-12-10 00:00

On November 7, H.E. Mme. Ambassador Fu Ying attended the symposium held by UK Fujitsu Research Institute and introduced the 17th CPC Congress to the attendants from the commercial circles in details.

Fu Ying denoted that the 17th CPC Congress delivered some important messages to the world: China will unremittingly follow the road of reform, opening up and peaceful development, China will quadruple the per capita GDP of the year 2000 by 2020, China commits to sound and rapid development of national economy, and China will develop socialist democracy. China has made great achievements in its development and is facing severe challenges at the same time, therefore, the Chinese government will take a series of important measures in economy and society, including expanding import, promoting service trade and overseas investment, encouraging international technological cooperation, strengthening international cooperation in the fields of environmental protection and energy conservation, and enlarging the education and cultural exchanges, which provides new opportunities to the Sino-UK economic and trade cooperation.

Participants from UK commercial circles highly praised the achievements in China, the introduction of the 17th CPC Congress by Fu Ying made them have a objective, complete and vivid understanding of the current situations and trends of China. Some participants denoted that they were very willing to participate in the cooperative projects in finance, service trade and cultural exchanges. They hoped that China could further open its service market and provide more convenience to the foreign financial experts for their work in China.

Fu Ying also answered questions on RMB exchange rate, foreign exchange reserves, democracy and human rights, aging society, internet regulation, freedom of religion, Sino-Japan and Sino-India relations.
